| This episode has always confused just as much as the manga material that it adapted, because we were told at one point in both the anime and manga that Light cannot use the Death Note to make a person kill other people, yet that's exactly how Light used the Death Note here - he had Raye write down the names of his fellow FBI agents and killed them through Raye. Some people would argue that Raye didn't know what he was doing, but that seems irrelevant since Light did know and he was the one who specifically wrote that part in the notebook when he wrote down Raye's death scenario. |

| I was feeling sorry knowing that Ray was going to be murdered, but then he started talking and all the shame for his machismo went away... If Maki is a better detective than you, how are you going to put her to work at home? |

| "when we will make children on our own..." are you sure? Yeah, episode 5 and Ray Pember is already out of the picture. What Light did to him (with such a little suspension of disbelief... he didn't remember his voice?) was ... i'm out of words. "i will execute Kira myself" LOL (poor sweet innocent Sayu, honestly) L has no choice to finally reveal himself, but not yet. |

| I've skipped this anime ever since I found out about anime, because literally everyone kept asking me to watch this. But now after finally giving it a chance I'm starting to feel that maybe the hype was actually genuine. Hopefully it stays like that. Also ray dying was sad and just showed the fake "justice" light has been striving for. |
| Light can hack into his father's computer as well as the data on it. If Light knew that his father had met with L, or his father had told his family that he was working with a great detective, called L, then Light could tear off another sheet of paper from his Death Note and give any reason (well, Light is very smart) for his father to have L write his name on the paper (like Penber did to his coworkers). That's probably why L said to keep anything about the seven of them (originally eight, but one opted out, right?) to just the seven of them. To be honest, compared to the battle of wits and timing between Light and L, I was more nervous about how Kira, aka Light, would deal with his father, who is the head of the police force and is in charge of his case. His father is a true justice, but is he capable of arresting his own son? Light seems to cherish his family, but he will also kill anyone who tries to arrest him. For L, I really want him to turn things around. He's already "lost" to Kira in some cases lately... |

| What a sadistic guy to stare into Raye Penber's eyes as he dies.. Light has lost his sense of justice he originally held, and is now just a murderer for killing so many FBI agents that are working on this Kira case.. Light is so hypocritical, but so interesting to watch. Also.. liked the direction w.r.t Light's body language his father says he won't quit.. and then Light gets up from the table walking away saying he admires his father and would execute Kira if anything should happen to his father.. And.. how did Raye Penber's girlfriend arrive at the assumption that Kira was on the bus hijack? On what basis? |
| RIP Raye Penbar, Light killed him and the other FBI agents in an incredibly messed up way, by making Raye be the one writing their names in the death note with the deaths prewritten, and then having Raye himself die with the conditions of his death being after he wrote the names down, galaxy brain move from Light but holy wow this dude is evil lol, there is no question anymore, it’s no longer a moral quandary, in my eyes he has gone too far. Yes I get that he has to kill these people to achieve his goal, but it’s the fact he has no hesitation in doing so, and it’s also just the reason his “justice” is simply wrong, if you can’t achieve your perfect world without killing innocent people, then it’s a no from me dog. At least Raye’s wife is out for revenge, and I respect that immensely, same with Light’s dad not abandoning the case, but I can’t see Raye’s wife going far if she’s already seeking revenge on episode 5, but you never know, she could become a main player too. But now L is finally showing himself, it was smart of him to weed out those he can’t trust before making an appearance, I’m excited to see him in person, and also since this means shit is getting real now, of course it’s probably gonna get real 5 or 6 times over the course of this show but this is the first time lol. Also it was this episode I realized that this show is basically divine judgement versus human law. Which is right, culling bad people because they are blights on society, or letting the law made by mankind punish them? At least this is how I see it lol, personally I’m on the side of the law, it’s not perfect but it’s more just than whatever Light is doing, I’m sure the lines will become more blurred as we go tho, like maybe L will do something evil later down the line, but we’ll see what I think if/when we get there. |
| Also what the hell, some people didn’t feel as bad about Raye’s death because he wanted his wife to be a traditional one? Stay at home and be a mother to their future kids? Bro he didn’t say all women should be in the kitchen lol, people out here making themselves mad I tell ya. |
